Stephen Myler and Olly Barkleyhave a chance to play their way into England’s Six Nations reckoning.
According to the Anlin Opta index, which uses mathematical formulas and modeling to compare player performances in the Heineken Cup, Myler and Barkley were respectively the best performing fly-half and inside centre in round three.
With Charilie Hdgson injured and question marks hanging over the England centre partnership of shontayne Hape and Mike Tindal, places in the England Elite player Squad are potentially up for grabs.
STEPHEN MYLER
Round three Amlin Opta Index score (positional average in brackets): 387(176). Attack: 93 Kicking: 178 Defence: 116.
The rugby league convert kicked five out of five against Cardiff Blues, and his impressive kicking score is supplemented by the difficulty of said kicks, a factor considered by the index. Myler also completed, and only two of this team-mates made more tackles in the game.
